Intent Upload
Updated over a month ago

Overview

Bring in data from review platforms like Capterra, TrustRadius and Gartner, and buyer signals from multiple tools without relying on native integrations using the 'Intent Upload' feature in Factors. Visualize the entire buyer journey by combining important events from these sources with intent signals captured natively on Factors.

Things to keep in mind while using this feature

  1. Download the data from any source in a multi-column CSV format to upload it into Factors.

  2. Once the data is uploaded, the action cannot be reversed or deleted, and affects all associated accounts that are a part of the CSV file and your project.

  3. The CSV file needs to contain 3 fields mandatorily, in the format described below:

    1. Date of Intent: This is the timestamp at which the activity/event was recorded. It needs to be in the format 'MM-DD-YYYY', 'MM/DD/YYYY' or 'MM DD YYYY'.

    2. Intent Source: This is the source from which the data was exported. We recommend that this should not be blank for any row of data.

    3. Company Domain: This is the account for which the event/activity was recorded. It needs to be in the format 'abc.com'.

Any additional columns of data can also be uploaded, we support up to 25 columns of data being imported in a single upload (including the 3 mandatory fields, ie. 22 additional fields).

  4. Each column must have a header to identify the column of data uniquely.

  5. The headers and cell values can be used to filter accounts, and create segments and reports (covered in detail below). Hence, it's important to keep these values consistent while uploading CSV files periodically (over multiple uploads) to filter data with ease. The data uploaded is case-sensitive.

  6. The maximum file size supported is 5MB. A sample file can be found in the upload screen for reference.

  7. Ensure that no duplicate rows of data are present in the same upload or subsequent uploads - as each entry of data will be treated as an individual event update. This will avoid creating duplicate events in your Factors project.

    Uploading Intent data in Factors

  1. Once you log in to your Factors project, head to the settings menu and click on the 'Account Scoring' menu item.

2. Under the 'Intent Upload' tab, click on 'upload third-party intent data'

3. Click on the upload area to upload a CSV file from your system, or drag and drop the file. Read the instructions carefully before uploading the file, and make changes to the CSV accordingly.

4. Map the mandatory fields with the column headers from your CSV file.

Select additional columns of data to upload from your CSV file. Up to 25 properties in total can be uploaded.

5. If the data in the CSV file doesn't meet the requirements for the mandatory fields, the errors along with the row numbers would be listed. Ensure to fix them and try re-uploading the file to import the data into your project.

6. Once the data is uploaded, it would take up to an hour for the data to start reflecting in your Factors project.

Using intent data in Factors

The column headers and property values can be used to build segments and reports.

  1. Use 'Third Party Intent Visit' as the event, and the column headers as filters. Sample segment attached below.

  2. The event can be used in reports to analyze accounts that have had multiple touchpoints across intent platforms.

  3. Intent data can be used in account scoring to capture, score, and prioritize accounts based on intent signals.

  4. These events appear in the respective account timelines under 'Account Activity'.
