Overview
The LinkedIn Bulk Exclusion feature helps automate audience exclusions across LinkedIn ad campaigns.
Instead of manually excluding the same audiences every time a new campaign is created, you can configure reusable exclusion lists in Factors and automatically apply them across selected LinkedIn campaigns or campaign groups.
This is especially useful for excluding:
Closed-lost accounts
Existing customers
Competitors
Internal accounts
Any audience segment you do not want to target via ads
The exclusions sync automatically with LinkedIn and stay updated based on your configuration changes in Factors.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Navigate to Exclusion Lists
Go to the AdPilot section in Factors.
Open the Audience Exclusion inside the Adpilot tab.
Click on "Add rule"
2. Select Campaign Scope
The first section of the setup requires you to select your LinkedIn ad account(s) and their corresponding adsets (formerly campaigns)
You may select all adsets - any new additions will be considered going forward
You can use the "contains" logic to narrow down a set of campaigns
3. Select the Audience Source
Choose how you want to define the audience to exclude
Factors Segment : Choose a Factors segment of accounts to be synced
CSV Upload : Upload your desired list of accounts as a CSV
Manual Account Addition : Manually add new account domains that you'd like to exclude
3.1 Using a Factors Segment
Select an existing Factors audience/segment.
Example:
Closed Lost Accounts
Existing Customers
Churned Opportunities
3.2 Using CSV Upload
Upload a CSV containing company/account information.
Supported identifiers may include:
Company name
Domain
LinkedIn company URL
3.3 Manual Account Addition
Manually add accounts you want to exclude.
Useful for one-off exclusions.
4. Configure Professional Attribute Exclusions (Optional)
You can further refine exclusions using LinkedIn targeting attributes:
Job Titles
Seniorities
Job Functions
This allows you to exclude specific personas within the selected accounts.
5. Review Conflicts (if any)
Your campaigns may have existing targeting inclusions / exclusions. LinkedIn has restrictions around targeting for certain attribute combinations that will get highlighted in the screen before saving
if a campaign already includes Job Titles, you cannot exclude by Seniority or Job Function (or both) against that campaign — LinkedIn forbids these from coexisting in the same targeting criteria.
Once enabled, Factors automatically syncs the exclusions with LinkedIn.
How Automatic Sync Works
Once an exclusion list is enabled:
Factors creates an audience for the accounts selected + segments + CSV upload and automatically adds the selected audience to the exclusion targeting of the chosen campaigns.
All attribute based exclusions are directly done so on at a campaign-level
