Overview

The LinkedIn Conversion API (CAPI) allows you to securely send customer conversion data directly to LinkedIn, providing a more comprehensive view of your campaign performance.

How to set it up?

Factors is a LinkedIn marketing partner which allows Factors to directly send conversions to your LinkedIn account. To set this up, please follow the below steps:

Creating a LinkedIn conversion workflow

  1. First, head to Workflows inside Factors by clicking on Automations in the top navigation bar and then clicking on Workflows in the left navigation bar.

  2. Then, click on "+New Workflow" to create a new workflow.

  3. From the list of workflows, select "LinkedIn Conversion (CAPI)" and then click "Use this template"

  4. Now, select the activity which you wish to mark as a conversion. Eg- Signing up, visiting a high intent page, registering for a webinar, becoming a lead, etc.

  5. Once selected, click on "Configure Action".

  6. If you haven't already, authorize the integration by connecting your LinkedIn account by clicking "Connect".

  7. Once you authorize your LinkedIn account, you will be asked to choose the ad account you wish to stream events to.

  8. Once integrated, select the conversion you wish to send data back to from a list of conversions from your LinkedIn account. Note - You can only send data to conversions where the data source has been set to 'Direct API'.

  9. After selecting the conversion, name this workflow and hit 'Save and Publish'. That's it, Factors will now automatically send conversion data back to your LinkedIn account.

  10. Once the conversions start streaming to your LinkedIn account, you can check them in the "Conversions" section of your LinkedIn ad account. You can also analyse conversions within the performance charts for specific campaigns or campaign groups.

What data does Factors send with each conversion?

Factors streams conversion events in real time for most of the events such website events. Some events such as updates in your CRM will be sent every 24 hours.

  1. Email Address (encrypted)

  2. Linkedin click id (li_fat_id)

  3. First Name - whenever available

  4. Last Name - whenever available

  5. Timestamp of the conversion

  6. Event ID - This is used to de-duplicate events between Insight tag and CAPI conversions.

In case there are multiple li_fat_id associated with a user, Factors will send the latest one that is associated with the user.
