3 Ways to bring website data to Factors

Factors provides several options for integrating your website data. Select the method that best fits your technical capabilities and preferences:

1. Google Tag Manager (GTM) Integration [Most popular]

  • Add the Factors SDK directly through GTM, eliminating the need for coding.

  • This option is perfect for users familiar with GTM and facing limited web development bandwidth.

  • While GTM integration is quick, you'll need one additional step to define which pages trigger Factor’s account identification so that it can help you to focus on your most relevant visitors.

2. Manual SDK Placement

  • Manually add the Factors SDK code to your website's header section (or specific web pages) for complete control over where account identification occurs.

  • This option demands some technical knowledge for code implementation.

3. Customer Data Platform (CDP) Integration

  • Leverage your existing CDP to seamlessly send website data to Factors, minimizing manual setup.

  • Simply copy and paste your CDP's API key into Factors for a straightforward integration.

  • One additional step is needed to define which pages trigger account identification.

FAQs

Why do I need to place Factor’s SDK in the <head> section on my website?

Placing the SDK in the <head> is essential for the following:

  • To ensure that you don’t miss out on website visitors and users, and associated UTM parameters leading to incomplete tracking.

  • To ensure you don’t miss out on any form fills not getting captured. Up to 10% of total form fills might get lost by not placing the SDK correctly.

  • To ensure SDK doesn’t take long to load. The SDK can take up to 8 seconds due to other async marketing tags if it is not placed in the <head> section.

We are aware that it is generally advised to not place marketing tags in the <head> section due to concerns about page performance. But unlike other marketing tags, Factors SDK is extremely lightweight (22 KBs), asynchronous and doesn’t affect your website performance at all.

How is Factors SDK different from the usual marketing tags?

We care about your page performance and SEO efforts. This is why we ensure there is no effect on page load time or website performance.

  • Factors SDK is asynchronous and doesn't impact the loading of other content or tags on the website.

  • The SDK size is just 22Kbs, making it one of the lightest marketing tags available.

  • The load time of Factors SDK is less than 10ms for the first-time load and less than 5ms for consecutive loads.

Our engineering team has analyzed performance for several enterprise clients with millions of website visitors per month and consistently proved that the SDK doesn't impact website performance, load time, or SEO.

How is Factors SDK better than Google Analytics SDK/tag?

  1. Unlike GA, Factors' SDK captures page time spent and avg. session duration metric accurately. Factors' SDK looks for active engagement on the webpage like cursor movements to track time spent and hence doesn't consider idle time on the web page as part of the time spent.

  2. Unlike GA, Factors doesn't sample data in any way for higher data volume. Hence you have access to the accurate nos inside Factors.

Which pages should I place the Factors SDK on?

On any webpage (owned by your organisation) where your prospects interact with your brand and content or fills out a form:

  • Website

  • Blogs, webinars, case studies or any other resource pages including the ones hosted on 3rd party CMS like WordPress, Hubspot Blogs, etc.

  • Sign up or login pages including the one hosted on the product app.

Places where you shouldn’t place the SDK include:

  • Pages where lead gen, content forms, and any type of inbound forms are hosted.

  • Landing pages including the ones hosted on 3rd party CMS like WordPress, Hubspot Blogs, etc or landing page builders like Instapage, Wix, Leadpages, etc.

How long does it take for the Factors Website SDK data to show data after placing the SDK successfully?

After placing the SDK successfully in the <head> section of your website, we will start pulling in data immediately and your reports and dashboards will start getting populated with data within 2-10 mins.
